hi, I have about 22k on 2 cards, one 9.9% and the other w/2k about 14%. any suggestions on paying/consolidating w/o paying a tsfr fee over 1%?

Those 2 rates are about as good as it gets. It will be hard to find a card with a better rate. You might consider searching for some 0% Intro offers but be very careful on the terms after the intro and make sure you dont pay an xfer fee to move the balance. I suspect you will have a hard time finding a card with a 1 year intro of 0% that then switches to a 10% rate with no xfer and that is willing to take 22k in debt especially in todays market. The only other way to consolidate and get a better rate is to get a bank loan or an equity loan which I think is a bad idea.

You could try and get an unsecured loan with a lower % rate at your local credit union. I do agree with DOLLARSandSINCE . Do not get a equity loan.
