I am a newbie. I received an email and phone call to my office from Westbury Venture Mr. Featherston. States that they gave me a $300.00 loan and that I now owe $480.00. Not sure if I do woe this - I have used a payday loan service before and I would never again do it but meanwhile I do not know this company and Mr. Featherston would not give me more info about who he represents but told me that if I did not call him and pay the $430 (giving me a $50.00 discount) that I would be prosecuted for internet fraud. How dare they. If I owe a debt I will pay it. I asked that all communications be in writing. I asked for a copy of the contract or agreement that I signed. I got nowhere with him. He said they will not contact me by mail but that I have to call them to settle this? Help. (I see there were posts like this last year about Westbury Ventures)

Go through all your bank statements and previous records and be sure of having any loan with this company. Check out for their DBA names also if you find something new. Write a letter to the company and request for your account statement. Send it through certified mail with return receipt requested to have a proof of your actions. This will help in case you find yourself in any kind of dispute with the company.

That is a scare tactic to try and get your money before you wise up to them...Please take Ruby's advice...I believe Westbury does collections for Arrowhead and VC funding(maybe a couple of others too).

Westbury does collections for all of Arrowhead's brands - Arrowhead, VC, Crown, Power, Total and a few others. They also have their own companies (DMS Marketing, Loan Shop, PD6, LTS and probably more.) I've also heard their buying defaulted loans from still more lenders.

Send them a validation letter. If they can't validate (or won't) you'll have set the stage for an fdcpa suit later if they keep bothering you.

I've dealt with Westbury Ventures-Ryan Hall....He sent me all kinds of nasty emails...charging me 570.00 on a 300.00 loan. I filed a complaint against them with the AG of NV- They dont like to get complaints....I told them I would only pay back what I legally owe and she backed down! As far as charging you with fraud- It's just to get you to pay asap!

Don't let these people scare you. Like everyone has said, they are trying to intimidate you into paying them more money. Do go through your bank statements and see exactly what you have paid. Hang in there.

funny thing here is that Freaky Friday seems to have a lot of inside information, how do you know all of these details?

Wouldn't it be cool if some of these guys tore apart their little evil empires trying to find the mole in their collections department?

Guest...if you have read through these posts you will see that this company (Westbury) goes by many other names. You did the right thing by closing your you need to send them a debt validation letter and a cease and can find them in the do it yourself section on this site. You must have taken out a internet payday loan sometime and that is how they got you info. These places give information to each other...and nothing they do surprises any of us here. If you need more help please register and keep posting.
