member profile picture

here is something i found i wanted to share about Osi collection services inc:

OSI Collection Services, a company owned and operated by Outsourcing Solutions Inc (OSI Collections) that just emerged from Chapter 11 bankrupcy but doesnt act like it because they continue to threaten wage garnishment from innocent people in order to get money.
September 20, 2004 -- Have you recently been harassed by Osi collection services Collection agency?

Over the past decade OSI Collection Services Inc, an Outsourcing Solutions Inc company has been violating the Fair Debt collection practice act by threatening the people they call with wage garnishments, they also have been threatening to take legal actions against them if they do not pay what OSI claims they owe. OSI collection services also has been accusing innocent people of owing debts they can't verify and they know are debts actually false.

A Former OSI collection services employee "JON" was fedup of being harassed and threatened over a debt OSI could not verify. OSI collection services claimed he owed a bill for under $110.00 to a hospital for services rendered to him in 2000. Jon also use to work for OSI in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in Jacksonville, Florida but was forced to resign because of not being trained correctly for 3rd party collections.

Dustin, can't even get a loan for a home due to a unverified bill with OSI collection services. "The amount they say I owe is 118.00 for a medical bill. All medical bills I have or had have been paid" to make sure Dustin had no outstanding bills he contacted all the hospitals he visited to only find out they were all paid.. Another person received a threatening letter from OSI claiming that Capital One services was considering taking more actions against him if OSI collection servicesdoes not receive the money that is owed to Capital One.

It's sad what Jon and Dustin had to go through. Debt collection agencies are violating the rules and need to face penalties for it.

Nowadays, more and more cases of violation of the fdcpa laws are coming up. The reason for this may be that the debt collectors are either poorly trained or they know that they can escape from it.

File your complaints at the FTC, BBB and the DA's office so that companies like osi collections can be shut down.

Does anyone else find it ironic a collection agency filed for bankruptcy?? Wonder if OSI Collection Services had collection agencies calling them to collect?

People, stop complaining you owe money! FYI, OSI collection services collects on debt that other companies give to them (like capital one) after they can not collect from you dead beats for 90 days or so. Oh, and the reason they went bankrupt was because they bought other business' and aquired those debts, so in order to consolidate they filed.

Stop complaining you owe money and get a job to pay your debts. If I owed you a few hundred I am sure you would call me many times for it.

Correct, if you owed to me, I would have called you hundred times and then I would have violated the federal law by calling you endlessly. And moreover, if I had used all the illegal tactics about which we are complaining, you would have taken actions to sue me. Won't you? :D

Robbcombs, we are not denying paying our debt if you think so. But do not make threatening like wage garnishment on innocent people in order to get money. Teach your company to co-operate and work within the federal laws. It will be much better. Hope you understand.

 Robbcombs is the exact reason for the fdcpa. People fall on hard times and try to work with the creditors. We all know that some creditors refuse to work with people. collection agencies are very heartless and ruthless and all they care about is the commission. They don't care how they harass. Also, Robbcombs, did you ever stop and think that some people have jobs and have been laid off, hurt on the job, etc. We all know that we have to pay our debts, but there are times we just can't!

So, in other words OSI Collection Services failed properly plan and manage their money causing them to fail to pay bills.
Subsequently their creditors wouldn't work with them to resolve the situation leaving them no alternative but to seek protection under bankruptcy laws and have debts dismissed by the courts?? Sounds like they got a nasty dose of their own medicine. Seems to me they got a little taste of what they deserve.

Well, I do have to say that I found this entire page very interesting!!!! I have to agree that OSI Collection Services likes to threaten people to get money from them. They threatened to take my Tax Refund from me if I dont have them paid off by the time I file taxes. Now granted I owe them Money. But I owe $1100 and I started out owing $3000. I have been paying $150 a month every month never late never skipped. Now OSI Collection Services want to take my tax money that I probably would have used to pay them off anyway,,,It is just the Idea of the threatening behavior that bothers me!

They can't lay claim to or levy your tax refund unless the debt is owed to the government. A collection Agent can't file a lawsuit (which would be required to attempt to levy a tax refund) unless they are authorized to do so by the original creditor. Even then they can't levy a refund, only place a judgment against you. They cannot make that decision or take that action on their own. Stating so is in violation of the fdcpa. Keep doing what your doing, and they will slink off with their tails between their bankrupt legs in no time.
