Exceptionally rude collection agents with no regard to the debt collection laws. Threatening and use of strong arm tactics to gain and acquire information from others not related to the debt.

Company doesn't want to accept proof of payment from a debt of $168 to Fashion Bug paid in October 2002. Exceptionally rude, telling people to look up certain words in dictionary to understand the meaning of words. They refuse to even speak with me unless I am prepared to pay $168.00 today with a check or credit card.

Send them a cease and desist letter. I just did. If they continue to harrasss you we should all get in touch with one another and file a group complaint.

Got a call from a worker at this particular debt collection agency named Monique. She was exceptionally rude with me when I had asked her who she represented she spoke very quickly and when I asked her how she acquired this number since it was my roommates number, her reply was that Verizon gave it to her. When I askled her for her companies info she told me to "look it up" and when I asked her again to tell me who she represented she told me again to "look it up." Then when I told her I would be reportingher to the FTC she became verbally abusive and asked me repeatedly when I was going to pay over and over again without letting me speak. I asked for her supervisor and she refused to give me the info for that and hung up.

Dennis,

You have the right to know the details of the debt they are trying to collect. Unless you are confirmed that you really owe the amount to them, why should you pay? If you get any call from them in future, ask them for debt validation. You can also send your request through certified mail, provided they give you their address.

Collection people cannot abuse you over phone, nor can they use objectionable words. They are not allowed to threat you by any means. If they do these, its violation of fdcpa and you can file complaint against them with FTC, BBB or DA's Office.

Wish to hear more from you.
Bryan

Hi Bryan. The assault is continuing!! They called again this morning pretending to not be there when they were. I called them back this afternoon and told them to quit the calls until I receive any paperwork. They claimed that they sent them and they sent them to the wrong address. I just got 7 calls in a row after I called them to complain about their reps. I just talked with a supervisor and I got more attitude. They stated that they are going to start reporting on a debt that was never there before on my credit reports. Basically I am fed up with them. I told them I was going to sue them and they laughed since it was over $148. Oh well!! Anyone wanna join me?

Any company does not have the legal rights to report a debt which doesn't exist. Basically, they are trying to threaten you so that you pay the money to them out of fear.

Consult your attorney so that he can deal this matter legally.

After telling KCA's employee who identified himself as "Mr. Ramos" numerous times that a debt to Verizon had been paid, this idiot still called me wanting $180.00. I finally got fed up with the calls at work (which I asked him to stop) so I called Verizon and had one of their customer service representatives call him to inform him this debt had been paid. She informed me that he was very rude to her also. Not surprising. I am writing a letter to Verizon and hopefully they will not use this collection agency any longer. This man is a total idiot.

Diane,

According to fdcpa, collection agencies should call consumers at the most convenient time and place defined by the consumer himself. They must provide debt validation before they start collecting the money.

You can file complaint with BBB, FTC if you find any collection agency is violating these rules. It will help the authority to identify those who are indulged in some unfair activities.
