Hello all--

I am in the process of trying to clean up my credit report. I have one question for all of you...

I have accounts that show up under collection on my credit report, which were discharged via bankruptcy. Should these still show up there? Or should I ask to have them removed?

Thanks for your help!

Sherry

No debt discharged in bankruptcy can ever be collected period.Send them a letter informing them to remove their entry as it violates the permanent injunction of the bankruptcy discharge.

I filled bankruptcy 6 years ago and I have accounts that was discharged on my report. Am I reading your message correctly that these accounts should not show up anywhere on my credit report? All the accounts are listed as 0 balance with a code of bankruptcy on it. I have my car and two credit cards still showing on my report.

All bankrupt debt must show zero balance and a notation that it was included in bankruptcy. If it was late or charged off before bankruptcy it is allowed to show that status.

They will continue to show on your reports until FCRA reporting period expires. Also, the BK will show for 10 years from discharge. Were the car and CC's included in you BK?
