According to a consumer, the collection agency has called him regarding a debt that has already been paid off. If you want to know more about the common grievances against FFG $ Associates, glance through the sections below.

Common grievances against FFG & Associates

Several consumers are totally dissatisfied with this collection agency (CA) for various reasons. Some of the most common grievances are discussed below:

  • Try to collect on paid-off accounts: A consumer complained that the collection agency tried to collect on a payday loan which has already been paid off long time back. He was told that he owed $733 on an account. However, according to the consumer, the original loan amount was either $480 or $520 and he has paid it off entirely. Find out more
  • Threaten to garnish wages: Another consumer accused FFG and Associates of making threatening calls. The collection agency threatened to garnish his wages if he did not call them back within 24 hours. The collection agency didn't send any debt validation letter or email to the consumer. Here's the details...
  • FFG and associates scam: One consumer complained that the collection agency sued them an account that was already paid off. The consumer had all the payment documents with him. Learn more
  • Use fake numbers: A consumer complained that the collection agency uses fake numbers. The collection agency called him and said that they were calling him from one of his friend's number. But that was completely untrue. The collection agency continued to call him twice a day even after being told to stop calling. Check out the details
  • Call consumers regarding a non-existent check: The collection agency often calls consumers for checks which are non-existent. One such consumer said that the agency called him regarding a check, which he has never written. Learn more
  • Call at work place: Another consumer accused FFG and Associates of making calls to his office repeatedly. Under Federal law, they are not entitled to contact a consumer's office/ employer more than once. So, the CA is violating the FDCPA laws. Find out more
  • Behave rudely: A consumer said that the collection agency behaved very rudely with him. He said that a lady from the agency called him and started abusing him verbally. Learn more

What to do if FFG & Associates contacts you

If the FFG & Associates collection agency harasses you, you can take the following steps:

  • Ask them to validate the debt: If a collection agency calls you and says you owe a loan, don't give any money straightaway. It is essential to check whether you owe the debt in the first place. So, request the collection agency to send a debt validation letter. They are required to respond to you within 30 days.
  • Record all the conversation: If a collection agency contacts you regarding a debt, record all the conversations you have with them. For example, if the collection agency behaves rudely with you, it will be possible to prove it in the court easily. If the CA tells you that you owe a loan triple the amount of what you borrowed, then an intelligent move will be to terminate the call immediately.
  • Don't respond to an unknown number: You may find a message (in your answering machine) from a collection agency regarding a verification of a non-existent check. In such a situation, it is better to not call back. It is a tactic used by the CA to scare consumers into calling back thinking their identity was stolen.
  • Send a Cease and Desist letter: You can send cease and desist letter to the collection and request them to stop communicating with you. It is also better to keep a copy of the letters, complaints, and relevant documents with you. The reason is, if the CA sues you, you can show these documents to the court.
  • Make a complaint with FTC: If find that the collection agency is violating any of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) laws, file a complaint with FTC. You can even contact your State's Attorney General.

I received a message on my cell and at work from a Joseph stating he was trying to contact me about a check that I wrote and needed to verify some information with me for security purposes. I am not sure how to respond to this because I have not had a checking account in over a year. He sounds american and the caller id is from somewhat local area(about 1 1/2 hours away) with a call back #866-443-6985. I thought I would investigate a little before calling back since I have been having serious issues with scammers out of india harrassing me at work and on my cell and I am having troubles getting them to stop. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

just looked it up and it's a scam.another bottomfeeding pdl collector.file the usual complaints, and do not return the call.you will get the usual stupid threats.

I know you said not to call but I had to find out if they were trying to collect on a payday loan I had already paid off or the one that I am paying on now or what. They said they are collecting on a payday loan I had from biggest cash payday loan, which I did have on but I swear I paid them off. I cannot find a contact number for them on my bank statements only transaction id #. The problem is I closed the account prior to last payment and do not have credit cards anymore that I would have made payment on either. So it is important for me to get in touch with them to validate that I did pay this off entirely because this FFG & associates is saying that I owe $733 on account when account was ariginally I think $480 or $520 and the payment from just my checking account alone eual $360. This is all from the end of 2008 beginning of 2009. If anyone has the contact info for biggest cash payday loan company I would greatly appreciate you posting it for me.

Spoke with Mr martinez at FFG and states that validation letter will be sent to me within the next 72 hours and they will be contacting my employer also in next 72 hours for employment verification in case I do not make payment to them in full by April 31 and other measures have to be taken he did give me biggest cash advance's number to speak with them about debt but he said if I speak with them before I receive letter he doesn't have to send it to me and he did state that it will have the least amount of information he has to provide me by law and any other information I want I will have to obtain by PDL company. This conversation I had was on a recorded line and I am sure because the local police informed me on how to tell when I am actually speaking to someone on a recorded line.

my rule marcia is if you are not sure don't pay them.sure they can record, but i doubt if you took action against them they would produce it.again a scam collector that tries to extort money from people with past pdl's.wait for this supposed letter.i doubt you will receive it.they do not want a DV letter sent.

I got the exact same phone call just yesterday. They said I have 24 hours to call them back before they start garnishing my wages.
Two things come to mind here. One is that I was never given any kind of letter from them, and when I asked them to email it to me they never did. Its been almost 24 hours. The other thing that comes to mind is that they cannot garnish wages without a judgement being placed against me. Am I right about that? My lawyer said I should try and get a case number from them, and let her know if they come up with one or not.
I do not plan on paying these scum bags.

yes they have to get a judgement which means you have to be summoned to court.get a WAGE ASSIGNMENT REVOCATION letter to your employer asap.alot of bottomfeeders will give phony case numbers.ask when which court the garnishment will originate.that should piss them off.just know that the immediate garnishment threat is a favorite of bottomfeeders everywhere.

I was served a court summons today at my job. Says I'm being sued for some old bill I never paid. I was so embarrassed because an officer came up to me with my boss and handed me these papers. I really don't even know why they are suing me and I'm wondering why I was never contacted before either by phone or mail. I'm going to call them and see if it's not too late to work it out or if I need to appear in court at the time and date as it says in my summons.
