However, there are certain consumer complaints against this company. Read through the section below to find out the complaints as shared by consumers in the DebtCC forums.

What do people complain against Central Credit Services Inc.?

There are many consumers who are not satisfied with this collection agency. Some of them have shared the following complaints with the DebtCC community:

  • Collection of debts past SOL: A consumer complains that the collection agency came after him for an old debt that was past the Statute of Limitation (SOL). He also claims that he actually repaid the bill through a debt consolidation program long time back! Find more.
  • Calling the wrong person for collection: A person says the CA called him for a debt which his daughter owed and disclosed all her financial information to him. He was in no way responsible for the debt. He had to refer this case to the FTC for investigation. Know more on this.

What should you do if you're harassed by this CA?

In case you are being harassed by Central Credit Services Inc. and you are not sure how you can stop them, a quick look at the following points could be helpful to you:

  • Don't pay them if debt is past SOL: When the CA contacts you for a debt, check the SOL as applicable in your state. If the debt is past the SOL period, you need not pay them anything. Send them an SOL expiration letter to make them aware of your rights as a consumer in such a case.
  • Show proof of repayment: If you have paid off your debts, make sure you receive relevant documents from your original creditors and keep them safe. If the CA comes after you for a debt which you have paid off, you can show them the documents to prove that you have repaid the debt.
  • Ask them to cease harassment: In case you are being constantly harassed by the CA or if you want to deal with the original creditor directly, you should send the CA a letter asking them to cease calling you.
  • Record conversation: If the company representative talks to you in a disrespectful manner, try and record the conversation if it is allowed in your state. The collection agencies are not allowed to harass or abuse you over the phone as per the laws. The recorded conversation will serve as evidence when you take legal action against them for violating the laws.
  • Stay informed about your rights: Keep yourself aware of your rights as a consumer. The collection agencies often resort to illegal debt collection practices and violate the FDCPA laws. Once you are aware of your rights you can take appropriate action against the debt collectors for the violation of the laws.

Can the CA debit your checking account?

A question that may come to a debtor's mind while dealing with this collection agency is "Can Central Credit Services debit my checking account?" Well, collection agencies cannot debit your checking account without your prior authorization. However, they can do so provided they have obtained a judgment against you. If Central Credit Services files a lawsuit and wins the case, the judge can enter a judgment against you allowing the CA to garnish your checking account.

3 days ago I received a letter from Central Credit Services Inc. that they had my chase account. I addition I received a phone call from a Benjamin. He pressured me into agreeing to pay 2300 per month for 2 months to settle the debt. Should not have agreed to it. Very outside chance of having the money come the end of the month (like 10%) and almost 0% for July.

Today I got a call from Chase. I called them back and was told that Central Credit Services collection agency had my account. The lady at Chase told me that I needed to make payments through them and that if I made them to Chase the payment would be held until the end of July and then sent to the CA. (doesn't make sense to me). Anyway she asked if I had tried debt management. I told we had but had not been able to keep up with payments and broke the plan 1 year ago. I had previously been told Chase would not reinstate for 5 years. She encouraged me to talk to the company I worked with before and have a new proposal submitted. She would ask for a special review of the account and have it reconsidered though could guarantee nothing. I thus talked to the consumer counselling agency and they are going to send out new proposals after payment July 2.

So called Benjamin and told him. He called me back - told me Chase should not have even talked to me that their company has all legal rights to my debt. When I told him I wanted to at least pursue this until accepted or denied, he got nasty - told me I wasted his time - and account would be sent out for lawsuit. I'm almost to the point where I want to say - bring on the judge - at least he'll work out a fair plan cause there are no assets to take. Anyway am sending a validation letter though I'm not really disputing the debt and them will wait out Chase and the dmp.

Has anyone known of Chase to waive their 5 year rule?

Help me understand what the 5 year rule is? Is this a credit card or checking account with Chase?

this is a credit card. apparently chase has a policy that if you are dropped from a debt management/credit counselling program, you can not be reinstated for 5 years. other lenders do not have this strict a policy (ie bank of america)

No, I just mean back on the payment plan with low interest over 5 years to get paid off. The account is closed and I don't expect (nor want) it opened back up.

We'll see what happens

central credit svs is a third party collection agency that get accts from credits that debtors have refuse to pay for whatever reason...these creditors have the right to call the delinquent debt due without offering payment options...CCS have worked with alot of debtors to bring debt resoluition your complaint isnt with the company but with yourself for allowing yourself to get in these situations in the first place. Simply solution is to pay your bills in a timely manner and a debt collector will never have to call you. At the very least if this is not possibly work with that collector is a respectful manner after all they are trying to help you out of your debt situation...Remember it not the collector that went spend crazy with the credit card it was you the debtor
