Can bankruptcy help to stop foreclosure and remove the liens?

When you file for bankruptcy, the automatic stay stops your mortgage lender from moving towards the foreclosure process until after you are discharged. But, chapter 7 only provides temporary relief from foreclosure, whereas a chapter 13 can stop foreclosure, give you time to pay off your default.

The bankruptcy did not get rid of the lien against your home. To remove a judgment lien, you must file a motion while the bankruptcy case is active.

You can remove liens by something called lien stripping. But in that case, the earlier recorded lien has an edge over other lien.
