I received a call from a company call Appelus today about an urgent matter. The number is 800-825-4425. Anyone know who these folks are?

It is some kind of call center....checking out the website now. They do a lot of different things, but nothing says that they are definitely a collection agency. Still looking!

OK, I think they are some kind of weird collection agency. I found one small mention of collection accounts in the FAQ on their website. Other than that though, I have never heard of them!

Yeah, I just read their services and they do debt recovery services. Just another CA to send a validation letter, too.
Thanks Mary for your help.

Apelles is a debt collection agency. They are rude even when you are trying to resolve the problem. And for some reason they are very secretive about their company. There is something very wrong about that. I'm not sure why they are like that. They are weird. Whoever said that was right.

I asked for proof of debt several times. They refused to give it to me. I told the ahole that I was talking to that I wanted to speak to his supervisor (he magically didnt have one.) I told him over and over to either give me his supervisor or proof of debt. I was told that I was stalling by making these request and that I was wasting his time. Then he hung up on me. Correct me if I am wrong but if you request proof of debt are they required to provide that to you?

Yes, the collection agency must provide complete proof of the debt for which they are collecting. You can refuse any payment legally until the information has been given to you in writing.
