What is the statue of limitations on all debts?

Hi Cindy

Welcome to the forums. Statute of limitations depends upon the state in which you reside as there are different statutes of limitations in each state.

Statute of Limitation is the time limit within which the creditor can file a lawsuit for delinquent debt. This period starts when the debtor becomes delinquent or when the last activity is seen on his credit card account. Please mention the state where your account became delinquent.

I have some collection agency calling me on a credit card they say I owe which must be over 15 years old.

This credit card was issued under my old married name. I have been re-married for over 12 years.

I have asked them to send me something on this account since I do not know what it is and it is so old.

I originated credit in the State of Florida and now live in Nevada. What is the amount of time that the debtor is no longer subject to law suits, collection calls and letters? Thank you for your time and knowledge.

They would be time-barred from suing, doesn't mean they won't, but the debt doesn't ever go away until it is paid. I just received a settlement letter from RJM from a Direct TV acct from 1997
