  • Collection of debts already paid off: A consumer alleges that the CA came after him to collect an old debt which he had already paid off. A majority of the debts collected by National Credit Adjusters collection agency are old payday loans. Many of the consumers who have shared their complaints on the DebtCC forums have accused the CA of collecting on illegal payday loans, reporting them on credit report, etc. As most of the problems discussed in these complaints stem from payday loans, it seems relevant to look at the reasons why you should never take a payday loan in the first place.

Why should you avoid taking a payday loan?

Given below are some of the reasons why you should avoid taking a payday loan:

  • High costs: Payday loans are unsecured debts and you do not have to go through credit check to qualify for them. This is why the interest rates on this type of loans are quite high. The average annual percentage rate (APR) on a payday loan can be as high as 300-400%, while the APR on a standard credit card is only about 12% or so. Apart from the high interest rate, the lenders also charge you finance fees which can often be higher than normal.
  • Short repayment time: You usually have a very short time to repay the loan. The loan amount along with the fees can take up a good amount of your next paycheck. It leaves you with the same problem that actually forced you to take a payday loan. Some lenders may offer you installment plans if you fail to repay the loan on time. But it hardly helps you as the interest rate they charge on these plans are outrageous.
  • Terms not disclosed: Some payday lenders include hidden terms in the loan agreement and these can really rip you off. For instance, a hidden term may allow your lender to double the fee for any kind of late payment you make.

How do you avoid taking a payday loan?

There are situations when you might be desperate to take a payday loan to meet certain expenses. But considering the risks involved in payday loans, it could be worth your while to check out some alternative options while avoiding a such a loan. You can borrow from your friends and relatives or can ask your employer for an advance on your next paycheck. If you have to spend extra money in a month, try to control your monthly expenditure and cut your budget accordingly. You should also build up an emergency fund to help you get over a sudden financial crisis without getting caught in a payday loan trap.

Sorry I havent been around in a while, but any help on this would be great. I had an internet pdl that defaulted many months ago for I lost my job. The pdl was UPFRONTPAYDAY.COM. They had sold my debt to a collection agency called National Credit Adjusters. My loan was for $300 and they now want $760. My issue is that the collection agency reported it on my credit report. When I filed a dispute with Experian, they came back to me saying they looked into my dispute and according to the collection agency it is a valid debt. How can I get this off my Credit Report legally since the IPDL is illegal in my state of New Jersey.

the idiot just above goldenbast is a humanoid turnip.for one a letter never counts as validation unless it is on the OC'S letterhead.as for pdl's the cintract must have an actual signature, the person in questions signature.since NCA never provides those things all they should get is reported the the AG of the person being harrased.that's it.oh and hang ups without a word.

Oh and to answer the poster about the car title:

You don't have to prove anything. THEY have to prove you owe any money. I wouldn't even bother sending a validation demand since you know without a doubt there are no monies owed on this account. Send them a cease and desist letter basically telling them to take a long walk off a short pier.

They may be licensed, but they are in no way, shape or form legit. A legit company would not do the things this company is documented as doing. Sure, they may act legit for some when they actually have the required documentation, but NOT having this documentation does not stop them one whit from resorting to downright illegal tactics.

So many people, likely the ones who work for these companies scream about people paying their bills, but they curiously shut up when it is pointed out that these very same companies use illegal tactics to get money and more often then not don't even have a legitimate claim....I find it incredible that they would have the audacity to even ask for money with no documentation, but they do.

The are licensed and legit. They did sent me validation of debt letter when I asked for it. I had defaulted on a line of credit from Cash Net USA, which is a LICENSED credit service organization in most states. The guy I spoke to was very courteous and professional. They offered me different options to resolve my outstanding debt.

There's no way you would've received the title back if it wasn't paid in full. This is a scam. Tell her to FOAD :)
