I have been getting calls from different men with very strong indian accents, they say they are from some legal department and that there is a lawsuit against me with some very serious charges, such as theft fraud, and so on and that I could be facing jailtime. these people dont want to give any info you ask them, they tell you a case number and that they want to help you. they then tell you that you have a certain amount of time to give them a certain amount of money either by money gram or credit card. when I asked who was filing the charges they said cashnet. then they gave me a number for cash net that was bogus! they then tell you to pay a smaller amount and that it is from a payday loan that you recieved. I didnt give them any money and noone else should either! they will not give you proof of the charges. they told me that after I pay the would provide me with verification.I have done research on this and even called the police! they give me names such as Andy Taylor, Robin Williams, Arnold Whatson, and they even called my sister and said the name was Jimmy Carter. report this crime and dont give any info. Has anyone else recieved calls from these people? one tim they said they were from united paralegal...

Let me guess: someone earlier on this thread said a guy named Jimmy Carter called her. Who called you: Bill Clinton?

I just got a call form 610-990-7855, claiming I owed money from a pay day loan. He had a thick indian accent also. But he said he was calling from the Federal Trade Commission. What a joke. Its a holiday and the Trade Commission is not open. I then called back using a male voice and told him that the person he was calling no longer has this number. I have not heard from them since.

The only way I got them to stop was telling them that I needed their info to give to JAG, us military lawyers and they stopped calling. My husband is in the military and thank god for sites like these or we would of been out lots of money. What a nightmare!

Who is the letter from? That will determine whether it's a scam or not. In California, the state does hold various amounts of unclaimed funds for residents, and it's always fun to find out you have money that you didn't think you had...

what if they have all the personal info. ss#, address, home phone, work phone, all that?? i stupidly thought i could apply for this loan online, i guess you could call me an ameture. but i was desparate. now i have these guys callin me none stop, and they are now calling my work. what do i do?! they claim to be officers, and they claim they can have local police come to your work and arrest you. ive had this full time job for 3 years now, i cant afford to lose it. can someone tell me what to do before i cuss these people out on the phone?! they have my address and what not, so im scared...what do i do?...

i just realized, i may not have listened as closely as i should have, but they may have some of my personal info wrong. hopefully

With PDL's, that I have dealt with, you need a chacking account to have the 'loan' direct deposited. Obviously..........if you don't HAVE a bank account you can't receive any money!! ALOT of PDL's are scams. I sometimes get calls from places I've never heard of,..and these places ask for me. They want me to "verify my information with them." If I had dealt with them before (which I didn't..) they should already have my info. Don't fall for the scams they try and produce!!!!!!!!
